About
Stone Techno
At Zeche Zollverein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ruhr Museum and The Third Room have brought together the past, the present, and the future in an unconventional project called Stone Techno.
Moving mountains and sampling, following in the footsteps of 150 years of the highly industrialized mining of 300-million-year-old black coal. The mining history in Germany’s Ruhr District goes back a long way and now presents Generations Z and Alpha with tasks for a lifetime.
Techno Music stands for upheaval and modernity, while coal is the symbol of the Ruhr Area. We will lend with this unique project audibility to the ongoing process of transformation in the cultural and natural history of this region. Science and museums crossing paths with contemporary music culture.
Stone Techno is a collaborative project of the Ruhr Museum and The Third Room. Its curators are Dr. Achim G. Reisdorf and Ahmet Sisman.
Arte Concert
In 2022 Arte Concert has caught eight sets from the very first Stone Techno Festival at UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein on video and released it via their channels. Furthermore, a five-hour Stone Techno concert was recorded at the Ruhr Museum also for Arte Concert in 2021 and has set new standards in the matter of combining music, art and science for a wider audience.

Releases
The Stone Techno Series & Festival is a new kind of multidisciplinary experiment and brings different aspects together. Sampling, creating and releasing music made out of stones and initiating a new festival at the biggest coal mine in Europe. The first Stone Techno Series 2021 consists of 16 internationally renowned and upcoming artists split up into four EPs (limited 180gr marbled vinyl).
For the 2022 Series we have recorded and produced a new sample library created by no-one else than the sampling-king himself: Matthew Herbert. Stay tuned for the next series of releases with a fine selection of pioneering, emerging and boundary pushing artists.
